Don’t Know What to Do in the Bahamas?
The Bahamas Discovery Quest Land Tour is an exclusive experience for your Long Island stay. We create a tour based on your interests or you may customize your own tour with our help and determine the best itinerary for your day. Touring Long Island by yourself is a great way to observe the highlights of Long Island, however, you will be missing the in-depth history and the excitement of the “story” of each stop along the way. Your Bahamas Discovery Quest guide will impart to you the “how” and “why” of each point of interest. Your guide, Charles Knowles, having grown up on Long Island will add his personal knowledge that will lead you to remote beaches, introduce you to Long Island craft people, meet farmers with great produce and enjoy the best Long Island native food! Choosing Charles as your guide for the Land Tour will ensure the discovery of the hidden secrets of this beautiful island.
It is a personal tour that introduces you to Long Island and answers the many questions that arise from what is seen along the way. You also gain a friend to call on for the rest of your stay should you have questions or need assistance at anytime while enjoying Long Island. The Bahamas Discovery Quest Land Tour may include visiting Historic sites such as Adderley’s Plantation, Dunmore Plantation, Columbus Monument, the Diamond Crystal Mine and the Historic Catholic Churches in Clarence Town. You may also choose from points of interest such as: Dean’s Blue Hole, Hamiltons Cave, Deadman’s Cay Cave, The Long Island Museum, the natural pools and search for the Long Island flamingos. You will meet excellent Bahamian Craft Artists by appointment to see their work in action. The island is long and the choices are yours! Altogether, Long Island’s past and present beauty is the reward of the Bahamas Discovery Quest Land Tour.

Seashell & Sea Glass Hunt | $110 | $220 | 4 | Guided |
This Bahamas Discovery Quest Tour includes scouring secluded beaches for sea shells and sea glass.
Common seashells are the Cowrie, Triton’s Trumpet, Queen Conch, King Helmet, Tulip shell, Atlantic
Partridge Tun, Sunrise Tellin, the Flamingo Tongue, Angel Wings or Pen shell and many more.
Sea glass is common along the rocky coast. Many colors are found with an occasional rare lavender
and red specimen. Beautiful art can be made using sea glass or just display the colors as an amazing
reminder of your Long Island vacation.
Join the conservation effort to collect plastic from the beach and create your own amazing art using
these colorful pieces. The plastic can be used to form mosaics or collages and create something
beautiful from the devastating effects of this long life and invasive plastic.
Long Island has numerous secluded beaches some with and without sea glass but most with amazing
seashells. A wealth of both can be found during a full day tour. Being shown the location of these hard
to find beaches is a plus to this tour as you can return as many times as you want during your stay! A
full day tour includes 3 beaches and more if you’re up to it!
Your guides also help spot these beautiful treasures. We have a rule that whatever we find with a guest
goes to the guest. Happy hunting! 🙂

Lionfish Hunting: | $355 | $500 | 4 |
Each additional person: | $25 | $25 | 1 |
For safety reasons, guests must be experienced Lionfish Hunters and/or experienced snorkelers for a number of years!
An invasive species in the Caribbean, the Lionfish, now thrives and is quickly claiming it’s kingdom in the waters of the Bahamas. The Lionfish is not recognized as a predator nor is it recognized as prey by the native fish. For this reason the Lionfish exists outside of the food chain. It can devour 30 juvenile fish in a 30 minute feeding frenzy. It commonly eats juvenile grouper, snapper, lobster, mangrove grunts, red hinds and most other juvenile species that live on the reefs.
The Lionfish is a venomous fish whose spines emit a neurotoxin that is horribly painful for 2-3 hours. The Lionfish are very prolific and their numbers are growing rapidly in the Bahamian islands, the Caribbean basin and the Atlantic coast of the United States.
Separate from the Lionfish Hunt Adventure, Bahamas Discovery Quest organizes an annual Lionfish Hunt on Long Island. Fishermen join together to hunt Lionfish in an effort to remove them from the reefs surrounding Long Island. Scientists have proven that removing all lionfish from a reef can allow the reef time to recover and repopulate the native species of fish.
The Lionfish Hunt is a specialized adventure for experienced snorkelers. Safety is our first priority. The Lionfish Hunt Adventure is snorkeling to spear the Lionfish using a Hawaiian sling or a hook made especially for hooking this invasive species. They are later fillet by Charles in preparation for cooking. The Lionfish meat is delicious and after a great hunt at the end of the day they make a wonderful meal. The Lionfish Hunt Adventure works to place the Lionfish on the Food Chain where it belongs!

Camping at its best! Secluded cays just off the coast of Long Island provide a great opportunity to enjoy the solitude of solo camping. Definitely stepping outside of “the box” you will enjoy nature first hand from both the cay and the sea as it surrounds your quiet evening. After a day of exploring, the sounds of the ocean and the cool night breeze are sure to offer a good night’s sleep!
Tents are set up beneath the swaying casaurinas. Bahamas Discovery Quest will drop you and your party at the Cay early in the morning. Your adventure includes exploring, swimming, snorkeling, swinging in your hammock and enjoying your overnight stay on the Cay.
We’ll return on the following day to set fish pots, reef fish or enjoy some deep sea fishing. Late in the afternoon we’ll clean the day’s catch. You will be able to taste the “fresh” dripping from each bite.
Spend another night or come back to civilization! The choice is yours!
Some cays have cellular service. Tents, camping equipment, bedding, towels, and water provided! You bring the groceries and we provide everything else needed to enjoy your “one on one” experience with nature.
